Everyone deserves a place to call HOME

In addition to finding housing, we help newcomers communicate with landlords and understand leases, troubleshoot issues should they arise, connect clients with Bridging to furnish apartments and link newcomers to social service agencies for food, medical and employment needs. Based on available funds and assessment of need, we provide security deposits and limited rental assistance in urgent situations. Client self-sufficiency is always promoted and encouraged.

Originally RHMN was created to help newly-arrived refugees who were left stranded by the unraveling federal refugee resettlement program in early 2025. Today RHMN continues to help newcomers with housing and other basic needs.

Refugee Housing MN (RHMN) is group of experienced, knowledgeable volunteers dedicated to the tenet, “Everyone deserves a place to call home.” Since our inception in March of 2025, we’ve helped over 200 newcomers—those with legally-recognized humanitarian protection—find places to call home and/or with other housing needs. We’ve worked with clients from Ukraine, Somalia, Afghanistan, Cuba, Cameroon, Columbia, DR Congo and more; over half of these newcomers are children.

“Refugee Housing MN is 100% volunteer-run. Our paychecks consist of smiles, feelings of gratitude and an occasional scrawled picture and thank you note from a child who finally has a home.”
